Istanbul is an excellent city to visit, especially for tourism. My stay here has been for both tourism and work so I have stayed for quite a while and have got to know it well and enjoyed my time here. The main area to visit is Sultanahmet of course and all of its many wonders; the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and the beautiful Gulhane park. Then there is Taksim and Eyup. Price-wise the weak Turkish Lira makes Istanbul an affordable place to stay and visit. Transport is cheap, food is cheap and if you go to the right places everything is cheap! If you get a chance I would recommend visits to Eminonu and the Misir market and the underground market under the Eminonu tram line there. Also Hamdi restaurant in Eminonu is very good, if you get a chance to have dinner here you will enjoy it. Aqua Florya mall which is close to the airport and on the coast meaning the airplanes fly very low over it and give it a certain flavour and it also has a funfair next to it and a long patio stretching across the coast (if you can afford it, book a room in the nearby Crowne Plaza and get yourself a private massage, excellent hotel), and also the aquarium here. Water Gardens mall in the Asia side of Istanbul which has an amazing dancing fountain in the middle that puts on shows every 30-60 minutes. In some areas outside the tourism hotspots people can be very rude and off putting. Be careful you don't get ripped off and feel free to compare prices and tell shop keepers you will think about it and come back later.
The Hotel is just a step away from the underground station "osmanbey" away, which is according to the traffic situation in Istanbul very important for the transportation. Not important issue is that the hotel is at "Nisantasi", One of the most popular areas Istanbul. Many different types of restaurants and beautiful locations to visit in that area. The hotel room was perfect itself very well designs in the most Porten thing is it's it's very clean. Another issue is the stuff of very helpful friendly and polite. I love the place ! Full of history and beutiful art everywhere Busy city Use the metro and the tram to save you money ! 1-take the hup-on hup-of bus ! Room around the city and make a list of the places you want to visit ! 2-priotrize your list and use the hup-on hup-of bus to drop u on and off 3- take a day rest(you will need it ) and room around your hotel area 4-plan to go to capacokia for hot-air palon I didn't enjoy the princes island as it is occupide by too many people andif you go on a cruis ship with a tour group all what you will see is houses and tourists around the place ! 5- bargain bargain bargain and do not let them fool you ! 6- when you chose to change dollers to TL ! Check many exchages shops before you setlle on one ! You will find a good deal around !
Best place to stay is a the legends hotel which is walking distance to the main sites and easy to find . Do try the sober kepaps at Boran restaurant on divanyogku avenue . Get the Istanbul kart to get around by tram ferry and metro as well as bus. Do visit cimberlitas hamam and hafiz mustafa for lokum
By staying in Hotel Spectra right down on the square, we were able to easily walk to the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, even the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar without worrying about transportation. A lovely terraced cafe overlooking the Bosphorous at the end of the park past the Topkapi Palace would a wonderful spot to have a pot of tea and relax. The hotel staff were wonderful, too, and we would invite any of them to our home back in Canada!
A fantastic location in cool Karakoy. Close to the Bosphorus and lots of water and land transport .The Galata tower is 10 minutes away and 20 minutes walk to major tourist attractions. Across the street is Namli gourmet offering outstanding tapas style foods. The staff were fantastically helpful and Cemil kindly upgraded our room to a sea view as there was availability. The room was sparkling clean, spacious and the bathroom too. Highly recommended.
We were so impressed by the architecture, hospitality and the friendliness of the staff. Kamal and Cihan took especially good care of us and recommended the best tours tourist attractions. The hotel is as beautiful and unique as the photos. The breakfast included was an amazing spread of Turkish cuisine that was one of the best I have had. We highly recommend this hotel. Metropolitan hotel is the perfect place to stay in Istanbul. They have nice staff, but the most fascinating thing was the view to Bosphorus and the perfect restaurant on the 7-th floor, with wonderful meals. Room a large, very well designed and clean. I have been to many places in Istanbul, but this ona likes me most.
